What's Out There, opening Friday, July 29, 6 - 8 p.m.
What's Out There is both a question and a statement. It is diametrically opposed to What's In There, "in" being the place where almost all human activity now resides, in our computers. The contemporary American landscape is increasingly becoming a digital phenomenon. Yet this exhibition, an examination of the analogue terrain around us, seeks to draw us away from our virtual habitats and lead us to otherworldly and surreal interpretations of natural environments that have been affected, for good or bad, by mankind. Full Circle is a round up, of sorts. The title refers to the gallery returning to its original space in Water Mill after a two year hiatus on Shelter Island. Artists who have exhibited with the gallery in the past are brought together with a few dynamic newcomers. The unifying theme: the perfect shape. Fashion show by Alissa Smith of Smith, Southampton.
